Berto's journey began with a life-changing diagnosis: stage 4b prostate cancer that had spread to his spine. Determined to fight back, Berto combined western medicine with integrative wellness—embracing a new diet, regular exercise, and meditation. Through resilience and the support of loved ones, he achieved full remission and discovered a renewed sense of purpose in the process.
Now cancer-free, Berto is sharing his story on "Wandering with Berto," with the hope of inspiring others to find hope and strength in the outdoors. The Wandering with Berto channel documents scenic hikes, practical tips, and the healing power of nature, encouraging viewers to live actively, mindfully, and support one another through life’s toughest challenges.
In this video Berto shares his personal experience managing the side effects of Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer, which included the injection Eligard and the pill stack Zytiga/Prednisone. Berto details the challenging side effects like fatigue, muscle loss, hot flashes, brain fog, and sexual dysfunction. He emphasizes using consistent cardio (H.I.I.T.) and resistance training to counteract these effects, hoping this two-year treatment cycle is his last.
Berto shares how he built his cancer dream team, blending Western medicine (ADT and radiation) with an integrative approach covering diet, specialized exercise, meditation for stress , and targeted supplements to support his journey.
